Rainton Bridge Business Park is great outdoors
6 October 2011
Rainton Bridge Business Park’s commitment to creating a high quality environment on site has helped it win the Silver Rose Bowl in the Best Business Park category at the Northumbria in Bloom Awards.
The Sunderland business park, which is owned, developed and managed by international property group Goodman, claimed second place and recognition for its achievements in landscaping and improving both the public and private realm.
Rainton Bridge Business Park has recently welcomed a number of new occupiers, including SIG Combibloc and Bowmer & Kirkland. Both firms now have their regional headquarters in Alexander House, which can now house up to six companies following the £130,000 investment made in subdividing the building earlier this year.
The Northumbria in Bloom competition, now in its 41st year, is organised by The Royal Horticultural Society. The judges review sites across Northumberland, Durham, Tyne and Wear and Teeside before deciding which business park provides the most attractive setting for businesses, visitors and the local community.
Rainton Bridge Business Park was praised by the judges for improving the environment for local residents, encouraging businesses to come to the north east and developing community spirit and pride in the local environment.
Richard Potter, Property Services Director for Goodman, said:
“Receiving this award is testament to Goodman’s commitment to creating quality and enjoyable working environments for companies at our parks. We would like to thank Northumbria in Bloom for recognising the care we take in maintaining the high standard of landscaped surroundings in our parks, enhancing the wellbeing and productivity of our customers.
The park’s continued success in the Northumbria in Bloom competition runs hand in hand with Goodman’s overall ‘Green’ credentials, which Richard Potter believes are highlighted by ongoing activity at Rainton Bridge Business Park:
“In an effort to reduce traffic congestion around Rainton Bridge we worked closely with occupiers and the local Council to put in place improved public transport links to and from the park. We also have charge points in place which enable any park users who travel to work via electric car to recharge their batteries.
Rainton Bridge Business Park, which is located on the A690 between Sunderland and Durham, is home to more than 2,200 staff. The site has more than 400,000 square feet of commercial property space, developed across seven buildings, with a remaining 20 acres of land still available for development.
